It is Small Business Saturday and we recently chatted with Shawn Sodman, owner of The Daily Scoop Ice Cream Shoppe located at 350 South Jefferson Street in Mason. The Daily Scoop has been serving up malts, shakes and many other treats for over a decade. The Razzles are a crowd favorite! What are Razzles? Shawn explained Razzles as a delicious soft serve ice cream blended with candy pieces. Yum!
The Daily Scoop also serves grilled cheese sandwiches made with famous MSU cheeses. Double YUM!

Tell us about The Daily Scoop Ice Cream Shoppe!
We opened ten years ago in April of 2011, and we have been scooping ever since! To us, it’s more than ice cream, and we have loved becoming a part of the Mason community over the past decade.
What do you love about having a business in the Greater Lansing area?
What we love most about having our business here is the people. We get to see some people all the time, we know what they’re about to order, and we can tell when they need an extra scoop. Just as rewarding is talking to people who are coming in for the first time, and getting the opportunity to watch them leave with a smile and a delicious dessert!
What is one of the most popular items on the menu?
It turns out people really like chocolate and peanut butter together, because our most popular menu items are the Peanut Butter Bliss hand-dipped ice cream from Country Dairy, and the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Razzles (our version of a McFlurry).

When is the busiest time of year at The Daily Scoop?
We are open all year round, but our busiest time is the same as any other ice cream shop— late Spring! The snow melts, people are antsy to get outside, and ice cream is the perfect companion for a sunny Spring day.
What’s your favorite business or two in the Greater Lansing area 🙂 ?
We really love the businesses around us in downtown Mason, like our neighbor Bestseller’s, and the LFA Farmer’s Market.
Anything else you would like to share with GLAMom’s?
We really want everyone to know that we’re open all throughout the winter, when we’ll have hot chocolate as well as ice cream!
