Tell us about Mind Body Symmetry!
Mind & Body Symmetry is a team of fitness professionals dedicated to helping people become the best version of themselves through health and fitness. We specialize in personal training, youth fitness programs, boxing fitness and women’s weight training. We believe that mental and physical health is the key to “Unlocking The Greatest You”
What’s your background? What made you go into the world of fitness and personal training?
I grew up competing in football, track and boxing. I always loved the feeling of being part of a team and wanted to bring that aspect into the fitness industry. I truly wanted to leave a mark on the world by changing the lives of my community.
You have classes geared towards adolescents – please describe this type of class and why you feel it is so important to provide to this age group!
We offer a Teen and Youth Fight Fit program. I wanted to do my part in stopping bullying by developing confidence, fitness, and teamwork. Our program teaches boxing and strength training for youth (8-12) and teens (13-17). We developed a program to make this fun and will teach kids to connect as a team.
What do you love about having a business in the Greater Lansing area?
I love the people and connection of the Greater Lansing area. I feel people truly do care about one another. This makes all the long days of trying to make a difference worth it.
What has been the most challenging part of running your business during COVID, and how did you overcome it?
Covid has been the most challenging issue I have faced in business so far. Reconnecting and establishing routines has been difficult for people after our industry was under shutdown and restrictions for over a year. Adjusting and developing new strategies to calm fears or worries is something that is a continuing process.
What are some exciting plans you have for the business the remainder of 2021 and as we move towards 2022?
We are looking to add further features for nutrition and really develop a guide for developing mental health. Depression and mental health has become an increasing problem since the Covid epidemic.
Mind sharing a favorite business in the Greater Lansing area?
My favorite business in the Greater Lansing area is the business that I decided to partner with Conquest Fitness. I really love the facility and the impact the owner Andre Hutson is making in our community with his non-profit organizations.
