Play Michigan! Playground Opens in Greater Lansing | Greater Lansing Area Moms

What started as an idea of Linda and Joel Zylstra has evolved into what will soon be a Mid-Michigan destination for families.  The Community Foundation along with many sponsors, has constructed Play Michigan!, the first universally accessible playground in the region, designed to promote inclusivity and the health and well-being of ALL children.

This $3.2 million+ playground-park on the downtown Lansing riverfront will be a destination for families throughout our region and beyond. The Play Michigan! playground at the corner of Grand and Saginaw, across from Lansing Community College  is open to the public beginning Saturday, September 16.  And GLAMoms got a sneak peek.

As they were painting handrails, installing signs and putting the finishing touches on the area’s newest place to play, we checked it out and had a little bit of fun!

This Play Michigan! playground is a fully handicapped accessible, completely barrier-free environment where all children and adults can play side-by-side throughout the entire park.  Children with sensory disabilities or developmental disabilities will find lots to explore as well.

Here are a just a few things that you can look forward to when you visit:
