
Celebrate National Library Week 2025 with Your Local Library – Discover, Connect & Grow!
April 6–12, 2025 is National Library Week, and we’re shining a spotlight on the fantastic events and resources our Greater Lansing libraries offer. Whether you’re a book-loving family or seeking free, fun activities, our local libraries are vibrant centers of learning and community engagement.
Why We 💙 Our Libraries:
- Storytimes & Crafts: Perfect for little ones and preschoolers.
- Teen Programs: From anime clubs to creative writing, there’s something for every age.
- Free Events: Magic shows, author visits, tech classes, and more!
- Library of Things: Did you know you can check out items like puzzles, games, telescopes, and baking pans?
- Community Connection: Offering free Wi-Fi, study spaces, career resources, and meeting rooms. Many even have seed libraries and tool lending!
Special Events During Library Week:
- Books, Bites & Bids 2025
- When: Friday, April 11, 5:30–8:00 pm
- Where: East Lansing Public Library
Details: Enjoy delicious food and drinks, live music, and an exciting silent auction. Proceeds support initiatives to enhance local history resources. Emceed by WKAR’s Linda Kernohan, with remarks from Pamela Smith, President of the library’s Board of Trustees, and Kevin King, ELPL Director. Auction items include packages from Peacock Road Family Farm, Zap Zone, Williamston Theatre, and overnight stays at The Graduate and Marriott East Lansing.
How to Celebrate Library Week:
- 📖 Get a library card (if you don’t already have one!)
- 📚 Visit a new library branch in a different part of town
- ✂️ Attend a special Library Week program
- 💬 Thank a librarian—our local heroes of knowledge and kindness!
- 📸 Share a pic of your kids reading or visiting the library and tag your favorite branch
Local Library Systems to Explore:
- Capital Area District Libraries (CADL): Serving most of Ingham County and part of Eaton County, CADL comprised of 13 branches
- East Lansing Public Library – Serving the East Lansing community with a variety of programs and resources.
- Bath Township Public Library– Serving the Bath Township area, a welcoming environment with a variety of resources and programs for all ages.
- Delta Township District Library – Offering services to the Delta Township area.
- Grand Ledge Area District Library (GLADL): An independent library system serving the Grand Ledge community.
