GLAMoms had the chance to speak with Dog Man: The Musical cast member Mundo Ballejos, who will soon bring the popular stage show to Wharton Center on November 1, 2025.
But this time, we let a 10-year-old GLAM Kid, take the lead, and she absolutely ran the show! She may have been a bit all over the place (as any ten-year-old interviewer might be), but she did such a great job keeping the conversation fun, natural, and curious.
And matching her wonderful, all-over-the-place energy was Mundo, who somehow managed to take every zig-zag question and tie it right back to Dog Man. That’s a talent. His answers were full of heart, humor, and a preview of all the fun headed our way when Dog Man:The Musical hits Wharton Center!
And to our surprise, before the interview, the media center at her school was even decorated with Dog Man coloring sheets and was the perfect backdrop for this special moment.
Mundo grew up in Northern California and later moved to New York City and since, he’s traveled across the country performing with Dog Man: The Musical over 170 times while playing eight different characters including Harold Hutchins, one of the beloved narrators and creators from the Dog Man stories.
Mundo shared that one of his favorite parts of performing is bringing so much joy to kids and families everywhere:
“It’s such a blast to spread joy to so many young minds and even the adults. I play eight characters, which keeps things fun, but the best part is hearing the laughter and seeing everyone dance along.”
When Nora asked if he had any pre-show routines, Mundo shared his lucky charm, a tiny golden trinket called “The Little Worry Bird.”
“Sometimes performing in front of nearly 2,000 people can be a little scary. Anytime I feel anxious, I hold my little bird and remind myself it’s all going to be okay.”
He also listens to music before shows to get into the right mindset and keep the energy high.

Nora wanted to know about onstage giggles and backstage friendships and when asked if he ever laughs during the show when he’s not supposed to, Mundo laughed and admitted:
“Absolutely! We’ve done about 170 performances, and funny things happen all the time… someone drops something, or something goes wrong. We’re all friends, so it’s like being in class with your friends — you can’t help but laugh sometimes.” (this was a fun response about laughing on stage, watch it here ➡️ https://youtu.be/ByAaMPU2D9s)
And we cannot forget about other Dogs, Cats, and Favorite Roles
Nora, a proud German Shepherd owner, asked about Mundo’s favorite dog breed. He shared that he grew up with Chihuahuas and helped his mom raise Yorkies, so small dogs have a special place in his heart.
As for his favorite character to play? Mundo picked Dumb Dumb Person, a “silly, goofy” role where he gets to wear a funny hat, and one of the employees at the “Living Spray Factory,” both of which let him embrace his fun, playful side.
Mundo’s favorite numbers in the show are “Dog Man,” the high-energy song that literally brings the title character to life and “Robo Dance Party,” which features flashing lights, a disco ball, and usually ends with the audience dancing along.
“It’s exciting every single night. You can feel the energy in the room.”
When asked what kind of animal the cast would have as a mascot (besides a dog), Mundo said he’d pick a cat or maybe a colorful, silly fish, but something fun that everyone could help take care of.
How about a Halloween costume? Since Halloween is right around the corner, Nora asked what costume he’d pick for a dog if he had one right now. Mundo said he’s always loved funny costumes, like when he once dressed his Chihuahua as a Hot Cheeto!
“They never love the costumes as much as we love seeing them in them,” he joked.

About the Show itself, Dog Man: The Musical runs about 90 minutes, including a short intermission. Mundo describes it as a sprint, but, “…the best sprint ever,” filled with laughter, music, and audience participation.
The show encourages kids (and grown-ups!) to dance, giggle, and let loose exactly the kind of fun Dog Man himself would approve of.
This was such a joyful interview, a chance for a young fan – who actually was quite a bit younger when her older brother read the Dog Man series to her – and now she led a real media conversation, and she nailed it. Huge thanks to Mundo and the team at Wharton Center for this memorable opportunity.
