Platinum Dance Academy has classes for both adults and children.

Hi Shelley! Please introduce yourself, where are you from and where do you live now?
I grew up in Flint and now live in Lansing.
You’re a mom! Please tell us about your son!
Kellan is 2½, is a conversationalist, loves trucks and doesn’t hesitate to pull out a swing move or tap step when the music comes on.
You own Platinum Dance Academy in Haslett! Tell us how you got started in the dance industry.
My mom dropped me off at a dance studio when I was 4. Best decision she ever made!
What is the most rewarding part about your career?
The most rewarding is sharing the joy of dance.
What is your favorite dance style to teach?
All of them!
What should first time dance parents know about their child starting dance? How do they determine which studio is the best fit for their child?
Ask the questions! Give them a solid foundation, it builds confidence.
How do you balance owning your own business and being a mom?
What’s balance? 🙃
Best piece of advice you have received as a mom?
They will only be little for 4 years, cherish it.
Fall is coming! What is your favorite Fall family activity to do in the Greater Lansing area?
Jack-o-Lanterns Unleashed is a very creative and fun event!
What are a few of your favorite restaurants & shops to visit in Greater Lansing?
My favorites are local & family owned businesses. A few include; Maru, Bowdies Chophouse, Ykai Hibachi Grill & Sushi and Horrocks Farm Market.
