Meet a Mom: Robyn Fralick, Michigan State Women's Basketball - Greater Lansing Area Moms

GLAMoms Meet a Mom Monday is brought to you this week on a Tuesday!

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Michigan State Women’s Basketball Head Coach Robyn Fralick. Robyn and her husband have two kids.   Her husband also coached and played college level basketball and she gives him much credit for making it all work.

She shares lots of ideas about youth in sports and how the lens has changed a bit since having kids and having kids starting to play sports.  As a coach she has a wide view of all that is going on yet when it is your own child your lens becomes a bit hyper focused on your own.  And what is most important though is fostering what they love.

Coach Fralick shares how the world around us is ever changing, yet inside a gym for the most part, it has stayed the same. In the gym you will find consistency, stability and reliability.  Consistency, stability and reliability are things she provides each of her team members and probably some of the reasons the gym is the home away from home where you may find her with her family!

Also an idea she shared about work-life balance was something we think will resonate with some.  Some professions go to work and work and then come home, and work is left at the door.  Yet there are so many professions where this line in the sand is impossible to hold.  Coach Fralick explains work-life integration.  A back and forth idea where work life and home life are one.

Family, community and core values – energy, attitude and enthusiasm – are at the forefront.  She admits she coaches women at a very unique age, “still kids,” and is honored to be part of it.  A part that she does not take likely.

Learn more about ways the MSU Women’s Basketball family spends time in the community, giving back with intentional and purposeful actions, along with what makes a good teammate off the court and so much more!

And at the end of each huddle, “family on three!”
