Welcome to Greater Lansing Area Moms, Paula, how old are your children?

I have two children. My daughter Mia just turned 8 and my son Arlo recently turned 2.

What do you think is one of the best parts about being a mom?

As a CEO who balances work and family, I find one of the best parts about being a mom is the profound sense of purpose it brings. Watching your child grow, learn, and explore the world with wonder is incredibly rewarding. It’s those small, everyday moments—like hearing a hearty laugh or seeing them overcome a challenge—that really deepen the joy of motherhood. Plus, it gives me a unique perspective in my professional role, enhancing my understanding of human relationships and emotional dynamics. It’s a beautiful journey that continually inspires and motivates me in all aspects of my life. Also, I can put all of those special memories in Karmascore.

What is a piece of advice for new moms you wish you would have known when you were a new mom?

One piece of advice I wish I had grasped as a new mom is the importance of being kind to yourself. Motherhood comes with its set of challenges and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and critical about how you’re handling them. It’s essential to remember that perfection is not the goal; presence is.

Give yourself grace as you navigate this new role. Each day is a learning experience, and it’s okay not to have all the answers right away. Take time to cherish and enjoy the journey, and remember that taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your baby. Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s necessary for you to be the best mom you can be.

Please tell us more about Karmascore! The app is designed to help you manage all the relationships in your life. What was your inspiration behind this idea?

I was on a walk with my husband when we were talking about the events of the day, I told him about a friend that was going through a horrible breakup and how there must have been signs, and voila Karmascore was born.

Who will benefit most from Karmascore?

How will Karmascore help with relationships?

Karmascore lets users quantitatively rate interactions and behaviors, which offers several benefits in managing and improving relationships. Here’s how it can work:

Feedback for Personal Growth: Karmascore could provide individuals with feedback on their actions and their impacts on others, encouraging personal development and emotional intelligence. By understanding how certain behaviors are perceived, people can make more informed decisions about how they interact with others.

Improving Communication: If both partners in a relationship have access to a Karmascore, it could help them communicate more effectively by providing a neutral, objective perspective on their interactions. This might help reduce misunderstandings and promote clearer communication,

Conflict Resolution: By identifying patterns or recurring issues in relationships, Karmascore could help people address problems proactively. Knowing what specific actions or behaviors trigger conflicts might allow individuals to work on these areas specifically, either independently or with the help of a counselor.

Enhancing Trust and Transparency: Karmascore could potentially foster trust and transparency between individuals by making them more accountable for their actions. Seeing a tangible representation of how one’s actions affect others might encourage more thoughtful and considerate behavior.

Goal Setting and Progress Tracking: Couples could use Karmascore to set relationship goals, such as improving communication, showing more appreciation, or spending quality time together. The system could help track progress towards these goals, providing motivation and reinforcing positive behaviors.

Educational Insights: For those unfamiliar with the nuances of maintaining healthy relationships, Karmascore could offer insights and tips based on the data. This might include challenges within a relationship.

Overall, Karmascore could provide useful insights and encourage positive behavior changes, while thoughtfully ensuring that they complement and enhance interactions that are personal, and helping the emotional elements that are critical to any relationship.

What is the most rewarding part of developing Karmascore?

As the CEO and Founder behind Karmascore, I find immense satisfaction in seeing how our tool profoundly enhances interpersonal relationships and promotes personal growth. It’s deeply rewarding to observe improvements in communication and emotional intelligence among users, spanning contexts from families to professional environments.

The intellectual challenge of developing sophisticated behavioral analysis technology also drives our team, pushing us toward innovative solutions. More than just a technological achievement, Karmascore represents our commitment to making a positive societal impact. Receiving feedback from users who share their transformation stories reaffirms the meaningful difference we’re making. It’s a privilege to lead a venture that not only pushes technological boundaries but also fundamentally improves the way people connect and grow together.

How do you balance being a mom and your career?

As the CEO of Karmascore and a dedicated mother, finding a balance between my professional responsibilities and family life is paramount. One of the key strategies that have been instrumental in managing both roles effectively is having a supportive and helpful husband. His active involvement in parenting and household management is invaluable.

Effective balancing also requires setting clear priorities, being organized, and embracing flexibility, allowing me to adapt to the demands of both my roles. I rely heavily on tools like calendars and prioritized to-do lists to manage my day efficiently. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of self-care, which keeps me energized and effective across all areas of life. Accepting that not every day will achieve perfect balance, and understanding that some days might lean more heavily towards work or family, helps me maintain a balance.
