Welcome to Greater Lansing Area Moms, Hannah!

Hi Hannah! Please introduce yourself

Hello! I’m Hannah Morse, mother to a teenage son (send help) and a mompreneur!

Where are you from and where do you live now?

I’m originally from Denver, Colorado. I moved to Lansing in 2017.

You’re a mom! Please tell us about your children and their ages. What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

I have one son who just turned 14. He’s so smart and creative. I think I’ve learned more from him than he’s learned from me.

It’s been a challenging year to say the least – any parenting tips that helped you make it through?

Give yourself and them some grace.

Can you elaborate on the best way to connect with a teenager? One of the GLAMom’s son just turned 13… We need advice 🙂 Patience might be one !

Patience is definitely important! I try to meet him on his level and try to remember to give him his space to grow into his own. But be there when the fall.

Biggest difference between living in Colorado and Michigan?
Both places are great places to live, but Lansing has a much stronger community atmosphere.

What is your favorite family activity to do in the Greater Lansing area?

I love to try new restaurants! Lansing is filled with so many hidden gems.

What are a few of your favorite restaurants and shops in Greater Lansing?

Saddleback & Charlie Kang’s

Bad Annie’s & October Moon

You’re a mompreneur! Please tell us how A to Zen cleaning came to be?

I started A To Zen as a single parent trying to figure out how to wear all the hats – all the time. I worked for a franchise cleaning company and realized, we can do this better. We strive to give parent’s their time back while offering a detail oriented personalized service.

Are you currently taking any new cleaning clients?

Yes! We do have a waiting period of about 6-8 weeks.

We would love to learn the best way homeowners can prepare for a cleaning service?
The pick up before the clean is really important. I know it’s challenging with small kids to pick up everything before someone cleans, but it really allows the time we need to make your home shine.

What is your favorite thing about your career? Most challenging?

I love to help people!  What’s better than giving families more time with each other? 2020 was a challenging year to say the least, but it also motivated me to come back even stronger.

Any funny cleaning stories come to mind?
I have noise-canceling headphones and I have been known to scare easily.

How did your business have to pivot during the pandemic? We had to stay fluid with an ever evolving situation. Keeping our clients and employees safe was always the most important thing.

Now some FUN ones!

Can’t live without skincare or makeup products – Caudalie Premier Cru

Favorite cleaning product we should all be using – Barkeeper’s Friend!

Favorite place to visit in Michigan – Munising

Beach or Mountains – Mountains

Hot or iced coffee – Hot

Strangest thing you have found in a couch cushion?
I haven’t found anything too strange. But I have found a toddler’s hidden cupcake stash under a couch. We are talking month’s of various cupcakes in different forms!

Could you share a favorite cleaning secret – Best way to remove hard water stains?
Hard water stains can be really tricky even if you live in the city. It’s important to clean sinks and tubs regularly to avoid build up. If your bathroom sink has some orange stains, wet the area and sprinkle some BarKeepers Power over the area and let it set for 20 minutes. Scrub and rinse, repeat as needed.

Your favorite non-commercial brand of vacuum cleaner that you use at home?
I’m a huge fan of pretty much any Shark product. I love how easy they are to clean and replacing parts is easy with their online store. You can’t go wrong with really any product.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you need some “me time”?
Lock myself in a room with a book and some coffee.

Best advice for someone who is looking to start their own business?
Pick a business you love, and it will never feel like work ♥

Thank you, Hannah! We loved learning more about you, your family and your cleaning tricks and tips!
