Meet a Mom: Amanda Fata, NuVita - Greater Lansing Area Moms

Meet a Mom Mondays are a weekly favorite.  This week we are excited to share Amanda Fata – the mom of 3 and the Founder and CEO of NuVita.

NuVita is a Michigan based CBD company – a woman owned cannabis company,  “that is rooted in service. We don’t just sell CBD, we build others up along the way!”

And, earlier in March, NuVita earned USDA Organic certification!

Amanda is a builder upper.  She encourages others to help, to be involved and lives by the words she speaks.  Her empire was built while she inspired and encouraged others!

Learn more about Amanda, her mom-wisdom and how she surrounds herself with people who build each other, and the world, up!

Please introduce yourself!
Hi, I am Amanda Fata, born and raised in Lansing Michigan. I graduated from Waverly High School. I currently reside part time in Traverse City, MI and Lansing, MI.

How did you and your husband meet? We love a good love story!
We met on the bus at 14 years old, spent our time smooching in the hallways of highschool, getting yelled at by security guards to go back to class.

After graduation, we separated and spent our time focusing on other things. Justin traveled to many countries and I stayed back and tried to focus on my education. Shortly after graduating high school, I became pregnant with my now oldest daughter who is 13 years old.

As you can imagine, I was fully immersed in mom-life, but tried to make the relationship with her father work for her sake. After trying and failing, I decided to move on. My mom and step-dad graciously decided to take my daughter and I back which allowed me to heal from the past 3 years of my life.

Shortly after she turned 3 years old, Justin and I rekindled our relationship. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we were still in love and the rest after that is history.

Now, we are both successful entrepreneurs raising our family together and trying to help others succeed along the way!

How many kids do you have and how old are they?
3 kids – 13, 7, & 4.

What do you think is one of the best parts about being a mom?
The ability to love somebody more than I love myself.

What is a piece of advice for new moms you wish you would have known when you were a new mom?
As a new mom, your journey is not going to look any bit the same as the mom next to you and that is perfectly fine! Understand that everyday, you will grow as an individual because of the lessons your children teach you.

Embrace the chaos because in the end it is all worth it!

What did school look like last year for your children?
Dumpster fire + Atomic Bomb = 2021 school year!  We decided to homeschool our children after that year.

We would love to know more about NuVita and how it came to life –
In 2022, NuVita is souly focusing on our mission to end human trafficking. NuVita’s story started when I became immersed in a new CBD company as a social media influencer.

After working for this company for several years, as the #2 sales person in the organization, I learned the ins and outs of the cannabis industry, and where I could fill the holes I saw. When my relationship with this company ended, I decided to start a business that not only empowered other women to be independent but to also tie the lucrative cannabis industry into charitable work.

In Nov 2019, NuVtia was born! Even though we DBA as Nuvita, our incorporated name is GRLPWR LLC. My reason behind doing this was to show other women that they too can be a household name in the business world.

Being rooted in service to give back to the survivors of humantraficking coupled with my infatuation for organic practices is what drove me to create this brand.

How do you balance being a mom and a business owner?
I have one hell of a nanny! I like to call it “work life harmony” because balancing both has proven to be very challenging.

Putting the right ride-or-die team around you, while you are a business owner and mother, is the best piece of advice I could give someone.

To be super realistic, my career didn’t start off this way (with all the help and support) but I kept focusing on what I knew I needed and worked hard to get there.

What challenges or stigmas do you face working with cannabis and CBD?
The discrepancy between vendors understanding a legal product, CBD, from an illegal (in some states) product, THC. There is still a ton of work that needs to be done to differentiate but that is what we are here for!

We love that NuVita has been built around giving back, uplifting and serving others! How do you select the charity to receive a portion of your proceeds?
To qualify, they must be 501.c3 registered non-profit and have a strong track record with tailoring their care given to the survivors based on each person’s own unique needs.

Tell us about the stickers you include with each NuVita purchase?
The point of our stickers is to get more people comfortable with cannabis and to raise awareness on human trafficking.

Please, share some resources we can share with our followers about human trafficking awareness –
Take a look at our website for more information regarding human trafficking awareness and resources!

What are other non-profits you have worked with/would like to share so we can share with GLAMoms?
Working with a large group of mostly women that all have different views, morals and beliefs, I feel strongly about being open to supporting charities that are near and dear to our affiliates’ hearts.

For examples, see the NuVita Giving Back Page.

Here are a couple questions to get to know you better 🙂
