Ice Fishing around Greater Lansing!
- Lake Ovid in Sleepy Hollow State Park, near Laingsburg
- Lake Interstate, near I-69 South
- Lake Lansing, Haslett, access from the north (boat launch) or the west (public beach area in the summertime)
- Muskrat Lake in Muskrat Lake State Game Area, north of Dewitt
- Round Lake on Round Lake Road, Laingsburg – private lake and have to pay to access at the Round Lake Party Store
- Park Lake on Park Lake Road, Bath
- Rose Lake State Wildlife area. Call the Rose Lake DNR office and they can probably give you more info.
Free Fish Weekend – Two days twice a year, families and friends can enjoy one of Michigan’s premier outdoor activities, Michigan Fishing, for FREE! Free Fishing Weekend dates for 2026 are: Winter: Feb. 14-15, 2026, Summer: June 13-14, 2026.
All fishing license fees will be waived for two days. Residents and out-of-state visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes waters for all species of fish. All fishing regulations will still apply.

Want to know when future Free Fishing Weekends will be? The winter weekend is always the Saturday and Sunday of President’s Day weekend and the summer weekend is always the Saturday and Sunday following the first full week of June.
