Grammy-Winning singer Catherine Russell is coming to Wharton Center! | Greater Lansing Area Moms

GLAMoms had the exciting opportunity to speak with Grammy-winning jazz singer Catherine Russell! We spoke about her extensive career,  the amazing artists (Paul Simon, David Bowie, Madonna to name just a few!)  she has worked with, what it’s like to travel the world, her pre-show routine and SO much more!

Can you guess what her essential travel item is? Her yoga mat!

Wharton Center shares, “Appearing on over 200 albums, her repertoire consists of gems from the 1920s through the present. Her interpretations are vibrant, bursting with soul and humor. Catherine Russell’s talents land her in a place among the stars.

Catherine Russell comes from music royalty! Her father, Luis Russell, was a legendary pianist, composer, bandleader, and Louis Armstrong’s longtime musical director. Her mother, Carline Ray, was a vocalist, guitarist, and bassist who performed with International Sweethearts of Rhythm and was a pioneering woman in the world of jazz.”

Catherine ended with “I appreciate you and all the moms! I am a mom to all my students.“  Yes you are, Catherine and what lucky students they are! We hope you enjoy this interview, the time flew by and we could have spoken to Catherine for hours!
