As part of an ongoing series with Downtown East Lansing showcasing family-friendly activities, events and things to do, this month we are hyping up their upcoming Community Chalk Walk.
What is a Community Chalk Walk?
It is just that and it turns the Ann Street Plaza sidewalks into a living gallery. Artists of all ages and experience levels are invited to pick up a piece of chalk and leave their mark, literally. From little hands drawing their favorite cartoons to skilled artists crafting intricate pieces, the Community Chalk Walk is for everyone.
There’s something magical about sidewalk chalk — it’s fleeting, colorful, and packed with joy. And the Community Chalk Walk is for one night only! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 16 from 5-7pm, as Ann Street Plaza Downtown East Lansing is transformed
Whether you’re drawing, cheering, or just passing through, the Community Chalk Walk is a reminder that art can be both accessible and unifying — creativity is all around us and no frame is required.

GLAMoms tip for Community Chalk Walk Downtown East Lansing
Bring water, sunscreen (even though in the afternoon, Albert EL Fresco stays sunny, and wipes (because chalk-covered hands are guaranteed), and let the kids create their own masterpieces on a less-busy sidewalk square.
