Bathtub Safety with Goldfish Swim School – Okemos | Greater Lansing Area Moms

Our friends at Goldfish Swim School in Okemos frequently share tips about water safety and January month is Bath Tub Safety Month and here are 6 Helpful Reminders

🛁 Never leave your child alone in the tub or in care of another child – even for a moment.
Water does not have to be deep to be dangerous and accidents can happen in seconds

🫧 Stay within arm’s reach whenever your child is near water, including the bathtub.
Have everything you need (soap, washcloth, towel and TOYS) ready and within reach so you can keep on hand on your baby at all times.

🛁 Safety proof the tub.
For example: Use non skid mats to prevent slipping and put a soft cover on the faucet to protect your children from bumping their head.

🫧 Keep the water shallow.
You do not need to fill the tub to get them squeaky clean.

🛁 Drain the tub completely and immediately after each use.
Pull the drain plug to prevent the tub from filling if a child were to turn on the faucet.

🫧 Protect your baby from other bathroom hazards.
Install safety latches on bathroom doors, keep doors closed when not in use and safety locks on toilet lids as an added level of protection.
