Earlier this summer, Higher Ground at Lake Louise was featured in our Summer Camp Guide.
Recently, one of our Greater Lansing area moms connected the camp with us. We also learned about a scholarship opportunity available to children being raised by single moms.
We know this resource won’t fit every family, and that’s okay, but we also know it could make a meaningful difference for some.
GLAMoms asked the camp to share a little more about the experience, the remaining camps this summer, and the scholarship opportunities they currently have available.

Katherine, Marketing, Higher Ground at Lake Louise shares more:
For families who may have missed it in the GLAMoms Summer Camp Guide, can you give us a quick overview of Higher Ground at Lake Louise and what makes the camp unique?
Higher Ground is a Christ-centered overnight summer camp located on the beautiful shore of Lake Louise in northern Michigan. We believe camp is more than just a week away. It’s a place where kids unplug from the distractions of everyday life, build lasting friendships, grow in confidence, and, most importantly, experience the love of God in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. From waterfront activities and outdoor adventures to worship, campfires, and small group conversations, every part of camp is intentionally designed to help campers feel like they belong.
You mentioned there are still openings in some of this summer’s camps. What ages are those camps for, and what can kids expect during a typical week?
We still have openings in our Junior Camp (5th–6th grade) and Junior High Camp (7th–9th grade). Each week includes swimming, waterfront activities, outdoor adventures, team games, worship, Bible teaching, campfires, and plenty of opportunities to make new friends. Whether it’s a camper’s first overnight experience or they’ve been attending for years, every week is designed to help them grow in faith, confidence, and community.
One thing that really stood out was the scholarship opportunity. Would you share who qualifies for the scholarship and why Higher Ground has made this a priority?
We never want finances to be the reason a child misses out on camp. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we offer several scholarship opportunities for families with financial need, including general scholarships as well as scholarships for single-mom households and families facing unique circumstances. Making camp accessible has always been part of our mission because we believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience a life-changing week at camp.
Higher Ground is a faith-based camp. For families who may be wondering what that looks like, how would you describe the experience?
Our faith is woven naturally throughout the camp experience. Campers participate in worship, engaging Bible teaching, and small group discussions led by caring counselors who encourage questions and authentic conversations. Our focus is on helping kids experience God’s love, discover their identity in Christ, and build meaningful relationships in a welcoming environment. Families from many different church backgrounds attend Higher Ground, and we strive to make every camper feel seen, valued, and loved.
Finally, we love that this follow-up to the camp guide happened because a Greater Lansing area mom encouraged you to reach out to us. Is there anything else you’d like families to know before they start making the rest of their summer plans?
Summer memories have a way of lasting far beyond a single week. Camp gives kids a chance to step away from screens, try new things, build confidence, and create friendships that often last for years. If your family is looking for a place where your child will be encouraged, challenged, and genuinely cared for, we’d love to welcome you to Higher Ground this summer.
