Blazers are the definition of a fashion mom hack. “Busy moms need pieces they can just throw on and go,” says fashion contributor Kristin Koch, “and tossing a blazer on over jeans and a tee or dress is the easiest way to create a chic, put-together look in seconds.”
This Spring, consider investing in a blazer that will take you from work to date night to school functions. “One great jacket can elevate casual basics like jeans, tees, black pants. It can make an evening dress work for the office or PTO event,” says Kristin, a mom of three and editor-in-chief of Seventeen magazine.
No matter your style, this of-the-moment piece comes in a version you’ll love, from cropped tweed jackets with a Parisian flair to oversized blazers and more tailored pieces.
4 Ways to Style Your Blazer
- Pair a blazer with a white tee, cropped jeans (Kristin loves white) and flats or sandals.
- Take your sundresses out early, and toss a blazer over them until summer. “If your office is anything like mine, you’ll need a blazer even in summer to wear over your dresses and blouses (they’re also great to wear at nighttime when the sun goes down),” says Kristin.
- Use them to dress down fancier dresses and to go from a more formal event to a more casual night out.
- As Kristen mentioned, jeans, tees, black pants can be instantly elevated.
There are chic blazers at every price point, so try a few styles and then splurge on a classic or two. Here are Kristin’s faves:
