5 Things to Begin This Earth Day | Greater Lansing Area Moms

5 doable things to help on Earth Day we hope to carry on throughout the year.  We try to use less paper products, less straws, use less plastic and recycle whenever possible.

Here are a few things we are going to try to do more of:

Conserve water.
Turn off your sink when brushing your teeth, less water in the sink when washing dishes or a timer in the shower reminding the teenagers the water is running.

Reduce.
Examples to reduce may range from turning off unnecessary lights around the house, unplugging charger cords from the walls when not in use or simply closing the refrigerator door.

Reuse.
From containers to plastic products to bags and lots of things could be used a variety of ways.  A little creativity, a Google search or a Pinterest account and you fill find an assortment of ways to reuse something you once just threw away.

Recycle.
Visit greaterlansingareamoms.com/more-greater-lansing-area-recycling for a comprehensive list of area recyclers, what they take, do not take and also how to dispose of unused over the counter and prescription drugs, including controlled pharmaceuticals.

Plant a tree.
No matter how big or how small, planting a single tree will make a big difference.  And arborday.org shares more about the Power of Planting Trees
