2021 Tutoring Guide

Beginning October 4, 2021
GVSU is offering free virtual homework help tutoring in all subjects for students in grades K-12 throughout Michigan.
• Sessions can take place any day/time and be one-time or recurring
• Students must provide homework or content to work on at every session
• Students create a student profile account and wait for a GVSU volunteer tutorto reach out and schedule a tutoring session
• Tutors are not guaranteed*

Mathnasium is your neighborhood math-only learning center that teaches kids math the way that makes sense to them. Our experienced math tutors utilize our proprietary teaching materials and techniques,

The Mathnasium Method™, to deliver a customized learning plan designed to address each student’s needs, whether they started out far behind or are already ahead in math. Our instruction approach goes beyond traditional math tutoring to develop understanding and build a love for math.

At Capital Area Literacy Coalition | The Reading People, we offer free services to help basic readers, GED completion, English Second Language and citizenship as well as K-5 low income housing classes that focus on literacy skills.

We also offer free tutor training workshops to educate our Volunteers, to help our students. We are seeking Volunteers in many areas as well as paid workers, when we have openings. For those with strong interests, we welcome new Board of Directors membership.

At Rise and Shine Tutoring, we provide year-round, affordable, individualized, in-home, on-site or virtual tutoring to K-college level students. Our tutors will address the current school curriculum of the student to improve academic success.

Complimentary Consultation​
– Allows for evaluating the students’ academic needs.
– Allows for the opportunity to discuss tutoring goals and review the student’s curriculum.

– ​We tutor all grade levels (K-college) and have expert tutors in every subject area.
– We work closely to support the school curriculum in public, private, religious or alternative schools.

​- Tutoring in the English Language (speaking, reading and writing)
– Preparation for the TOEFL Exam (Test of English as a Second Language)

The Well Education Center is beautifully unique. We believe that helping our youth grow and thrive is not a solo act. We need each other. The Well aims to live and operate in such a radically generous way, it inspires others to do likewise – full of faith, full of love, full of hope.

We provide ordinary people the opportunity and platform to help their community. Parents and schools who receive services through The Well are not only helping their children grow and thrive, but they are also helping youth in our community whose parents cannot afford academic supports. This is accomplished through a uniquely generous business model. Currently, we give 25% of every dollar received right back to the community, including scholarships. And we are moving towards giving even more! We partner with local organizations that serve youth in our community to offer support where there is need.

Our mission is to seek the WELL being of hearts and minds in academics for the whole community. The Well provides tutoring for all ages and in all subjects. We specialize in providing reading instruction for students with dyslexia or dyslexic tendencies. We also provide support services and opportunities for teacher development and training.
