If you are staying around town this weekend? GLAMoms has compiled a list of area things to do! We hope you have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!

10+ THINGS TO DO OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND!

Cool off at one of the area pools, splash pads or beaches! This is the last weekend the East Lansing Aquatic Center will be open.

Last home stretch for the Lansing Lugnuts.  There are themed nights for the weekend, fireworks and get a photo with Big Lug!  Oh, there is a baseball game too! On Sunday, plan for an Extra Inning at Capital City Market. They may have a treat waiting for you.

It’s a beautiful day for football! Michigan State has their home opener against Florida Atlantic on Friday at 7pm. If you aren’t attending in person, set up a backyard tailgate and incorporate these game time crafts or make this festive dip!

Take the night off from cooking and visit a local restaurant. On Sundays, kids eat free or at a discounted rate at many area restaurants!  List just updated!

Take a day trip to Downtown Owosso! You’ll find shopping, farmers markets, ice cream shops, restaurants and even tour a castle!

Find a park – or a playground. GLAMoms has a few favorites and one is Riverside Park in DeWitt. Here is a little preview we shared on Instagram. And while you are there are two more playgrounds within walking distance along the river trail.  Then checkout downtown DeWitt and an afternoon of it!

It’s going to be HOT this weekend, want to get the kids energy out indoors? How about bowling, roller skating or a trampoline park!

Summer produce is abundant this time of year! Check out an area Farmers Market and try a new recipe. We love this one from Whole 30, Grilled Romaine Salad!

Meet up with a friend to explore one of the many nature, walking or biking trails in Greater Lansing and then treat yourself to a coffee at one of the many local coffee spots!

Check out activities this weekend!   Michigan Chicken Wing Festival, the Festival of Oddities and more!
Lots of things are happening over the Labor Day weekend!

What did we miss?  What fun do you have planned?  No Labor Day Weekend plans… we get that too!   Whatever you do, have a great time!  If you know of something we missed – send it our way [email protected] – we would love to learn about it.

And finally… GLAMoms loves sharing the why or story behind the events, activities and in this case, the history of Labor Day.

According a recent Google Search 😊, in addition to the unofficial last weekend of summer… Labor Day being celebrated on the first Monday in September in the United States, was established in 1894 to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers. It originated from labor union movements advocating for worker rights and fair conditions.
