World of Winter | Black History Walking Tour

Join your Grand Rapids Running Tours or a FREE walk through Grand Rapids’ Black history.
This tour specifically examines the African American population from 1826 until the present; The remarkable people, places, events, issus, legends and facts about being Black in Grand Rapids.
Tour guide Caroline Cook will walk you through a maze of touchstones in downtown Grand Rapids that prompt intriguing narrative.
All tours meet at Rosa Parks Circle. First come, first served. 25 person maximum. Please bring your masks and practice social distancing.
The annual World of Winter festival is designed to take advantage of Michigan’s cold climate, provide interesting ways for people to enjoy the season and make Grand Rapids a better winter city – which makes Grand Rapids a better year-round city.
The 2021 festival happens from January 15 to February 28 and features a variety of FREE programming and activities for families and adults.
World of Winter is organized by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., the City of Grand Rapids and numerous community partners.
