Need a change of pace and to go explore? Day trips are becoming more and more part of weekend plans! A day trip serves as a perfect change of scenery and does not require much planning. We are rounding up some fun day trip ideas and this week we are focusing on attractions in the Grand Rapids area that are family friendly with COVID precautions. Pack some snacks and travel about an hour west!
The Meijer Gardens is an absolute favorite of ours. It feels like Summer while butterflies flutter around you, SO much fun! It opens March 1st, details below. Enjoy!
Frederik Meijer Gardens Butterflies Are Blooming Exhibit (March 1- April 30th) open daily, Tuesdays until 9p in April (suggest bringing flashlight on Tuesdays)
Robert B. Chaffee Planetarium multiple shows weekly, shows run about 40 minutes, purchase tickets online
Grand Rapids Art Museum open daily, 4 exhibits currently and much more, timed tickets available online
Grand Rapids Public Museum open daily, Wild Connections made with Lego Bricks now open, online tickets available
The Grand Rapids Children’s Museum, open daily, two floors of hands-on interactive exhibits and daily drop-in programs that encourage discovery and learning through play. Advanced reservations no longer required, masks are required for ages 2 and up. Capacity is limited.
Gerald Ford Presidential Museum open daily, visitors to experience highlights from President and Mrs. Ford’s lives. The exhibit teaches democratic citizenship and allows for quiet reflection. In addition to the permanent exhibits, changing temporary exhibits draw artifacts from Museums all over the country.
